Increasing strength without increasing bulk, Pilates exercises are typically done very slowly and therefore strength increases but also control. The slow speed is wickedly deceptive and exercises the muscles completely with no impact on the connective tissues. Pilates is more suitable than Yoga as a means of targeting particular parts of the body. It is very easy, for example, to pull together a number of pilates exercise solely to target the legs or other parts of the body making it very easy to improve target areas. Once you have the technique, it is very convenient for home practise. The two combined offer a very well balanced exercise program with many variables and options for a playful hour.
